Major Scientific Contributions

The team has contributed significantly to the advancement of knowledge on Layered Double Hydroxides (LDHs), through both fundamental and applied studies. Key research topics include:

Scientific Approach

Our research is guided by a structure–property–function relationship approach, combining controlled synthesis, advanced characterization, and targeted applications.
We focus on developing synthetic routes that allow for precise tuning of the structural and interfacial properties of LDHs.
Our expertise includes:
  • Control of interlayer organization and surface/interface chemistry
  • Use of advanced characterization techniques, including Pair Distribution Function (PDF) analysis and operando methods (e.g., X-ray diffraction coupled with electrochemical measurements)
  • Method development for studying interfaces and reactive environments
We place particular emphasis on the reproducibility of experimental protocols, the mechanistic interpretation of transformation processes, and the correlation between structural features and functional properties.

Ongoing Research Projects

Our current activities address societal and technological challenges in the fields of energy, environment, and materials science. The projects are supported by national and international funding programs and conducted in collaboration with academic and industrial partners.
